Tainted Thanaka Poisons Two Children in US
27 November 2013
At least two children in the United States are suffering from lead poisoning after using contaminated thanaka paste imported from Burma, reports the Kansas City star. The Kansas City Health Department reported on Tuesday that the product was in a silver-colored metal container with a cardboard cover picturing a woman wearing a pink dress. The label, printed in Burmese, said “Sondraque, in the Myanmar tradition, the princess uses Thanaka.” The health department urged anyone who has used the product to seek a blood lead test, the report said.
