It publishes news, articles, views, analysis, editorial discussions, video-reports, and photo-essays. Job Overview

The Irrawaddy is seeking an Office Manager who is determined, highly motivated, and capable of working in the field of Office Management, Logistics, and Administration.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations, including the coordination of administrative tasks, maintenance of supplies, and assurance of office equipment functionality, as well as managing housekeeping.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with external vendors for office services.
  • Administer budgets, expenses, and procurement in collaboration with the Finance and Human Resources departments.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety protocols, and visa processes.
  • Handle confidential information, manage documentation maintain up-to-date records, databases, and inventories.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with authorities from relevant government departments, supporters, clients, and service providers.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager to implement departmental performance management which includes developing staff development plans, conducting staff performance appraisal, and monitoring staff performance.
  • Handle organizational-related disputes and complaints in consultations with the relevant manager/director and relevant parties.
  • Identify and implement improvements in administrative processes and policy adherence to enhance efficiency.
  • Participate in and contribute to weekly/monthly editorial management meetings on management-related matters if required.
  • Assist in planning and executing team-building and office activities, such as events, meetings, travel arrangements, and appointments.
  • Perform any other duties relevant to the role and responsibilities of the position.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in Burmese and English Languages are a must (Thai skill is a plus).
  • Minimum three years of management experience in office management, administration, and logistics.
  • Bachelor in Business Administration, or other similar educational background.
  • Ability to build a good working relationship with all stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel, Internet, Google Drive, Etc.,
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in staff management and planning.
  • Have enough knowledge about Thailand’s culture and context to deal with the local government documentation and logistics matters.

Qualifications Desired

  • Prior working experience at the management level will be considered an asset.
  • A willingness to be flexible about the working schedule.
  • Ability to work independently within tight deadlines, and under pressure as well as able to multi-tasking.
  • Good communication skills and a tactful manner.
  • Previous experience in NGO or media group will be an advantage.

  • Identify key areas of improvement for administrative process, and ensure the implementation of office policies and procedures
  • Manage office activities such as meetings, reservations, travel plans, and appointments
  • Perform and assist other Ad-hoc activities assigned by the manager to keep the administrative process running smoothly

Job Overview
The Irrawaddy is seeking a Projects Director to manage project development and management – develop media project proposals; regular research on emerging funding opportunities, oversee project monitoring, evaluation, and learning; and write project reports for donors and partners.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop project proposals to submit to donors in accordance with donor’s guidelines
• Identify resource requirements, budget preparation, and arrange allocation for the organization
• Track and prepare project reports according to the relevant requirements including monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL)
• To lead the project team and coordinate all current projects with other relevant departments
• Oversee project monitoring and documentation of the progress of all current projects
• Manage and organize any changes in project scope, schedule, and budget
• Monitor and research on emerging funding opportunities and grants for media work from various donors and funding programs in the region
• Represent IRW in stakeholders’ meetings and form strategic and friendly partnerships with donors and partners
• Perform other activities as may be assigned by the CEO and cooperate with Directors to keep activities and procedures running smoothly for project management and development tasks as required

Qualifications/Requirements
• At least 10 years of senior-level management experience
• Excellent English language fluency
• High-level writing skills, including proposal and report writing experience
• Good communication skills, donors relations, and project coordination
• Strong analytical skills to analyze data and issues for project proposal development and reporting
• Proficient computer skills, especially MS Project and MS Office
• Willingness to be flexible about working schedule
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and under pressure, as well as the ability to multi-tasking
• Knowledge and awareness of the media group operation
• Knowledge and experience of Myanmar’s political and socio-economic context and/or the media industry in Myanmar/Region
