Eleven Media on Tuesday said it holds an official policy that Chinese investment in the Kunming-Kyaukphyu railroad project and Kyaukphyu port China’s “complete control” over the projects “can harm [Burma’s] state sovereignty”. The statement follows a Chinese denial that it had sold weapons to Wa rebels in eastern Burma, a claim originally reported by Jane’s Intelligence Review and covered by Eleven Media. The newspaper wrote on its website that the Chinese Embassy press release “showing deep dissatisfaction over the news is tantamount to disturbing the Myanmar people’s rights and freedom.”
