Australia’s Foreign Minister Bob Carr will travel to Burma this week for discussions with Burma’s President Thein Sein and Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin. The visit from Wednesday to Friday will include talks on human rights in west Burma’s Arakan State, where violence between Buddhists and Muslims has displaced more than 140,000 people, according to a statement from the Australian minister’s website. “In previous discussions, I have stressed with President Thein Sein and Foreign Minister Wunna the importance of resolving ethnic and sectarian unrest and addressing issues of citizenship for stateless minorities,” Carr said in the statement.
