Burma’s pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi will address both houses of Britain’s Parliament when she travels to the UK next month, British officials said on Saturday. Former South African President Nelson Mandela and US President Barack Obama are among the very few foreign leaders who have been given this honor. Suu Kyi’s trip will be her first outside of Burma in 24 years, and will also include a visit to Norway, a country that has long supported Burma’s pro-democracy movement, and which last week played host to Lower House Speaker Shwe Mann, a former junta leader.
