29 November 2013
Burmese living in Singapore now have another option for sending money back home, with the introduction of a remittance service to Burma by Singapore Post (SingPost). In a statement, the public company said that it would offer the service at all of its branches. Transferred funds can be sent to any one of four Burmese banks partnering with SingPost: Asia Green Development Bank, Cooperative Bank, Kanbawza Bank and the Tun Foundation Bank. SingPost, which estimates that there are between 150,000 and 200,000 Burmese nationals living in Singapore, said it is one of the first postal service providers in the world to offer this service to Burmese.
