Marubeni Corp, one of Japan’s leading trading companies, has been awarded a contract by the Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise to overhaul a thermal power plant, according to The Japan Times.
The plant in Ywama, about 20 km northwest of Rangoon, is currently out of service but will have an output capacity of 34,000 KW after Marubeni replace parts in its gas turbine with Hitachi Ltd components. Marubeni first delivered the plant in 2005. Meanwhile, Burma’s Commerce Minister Win Myint is in Japan this week to attend economic seminars in Tokyo and Osaka.
