Luxury River Cruise Planned for Burma
12 September 2012
Orient-Express Hotels Ltd., a Nasdaq-listed company that runs a famed luxury rail service between Singapore and Bangkok, is planning to add a cruise up Burma’s Irrawaddy River to its list of five-star tourism services. The company, which has been operating in the country for the past 17 years and already offers a river cruise to Mandalay, said it is constructing a new cruiser that will be able to reach areas usually considered inaccessible. The cruiser, named Orcaella after the dolphins known to inhabit the Irrawaddy River, is being built locally, the Wall Street Journal reported.
