Human Rights (HRW) Watch is urging Thailand to release ethnic Rohingyas from Burma who are being held under poor conditions at Thai detention centers and shelters. Thai authorities are considering transferring 1,839 Rohingyas to refugee camps on the Thai-Burma border or expanding the capacity of existing detention centers to hold them. “Instead of sticking them in border camps or immigration lockups, the Thai government should consider allowing the Rohingya to remain, work, and live under temporary protection,” Brad Adams of HRW said in a statement.
