China’s military has told the Unites States it should not support Japan over a group of islands in the East China Sea, Reuters said. Both China and Japan claim the uninhabited islands known as Senkaku or Diaoyu, which are controlled by Japan. “This issue should not become a problem between China and the United States, and China hopes that the United States does not become a third party in this issue,” the Chinese Defense Ministry quoted Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of general staff of the People’s Liberation Army, as telling U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy James Miller.
