Burma has formed a new tourist police force in response to the growing number of international visitors to the country, Eleven Myanmar reports. The new force will assign 140 officers to tourist sites in Rangoon, Mandalay, Pagan, Naypyidaw and Shan State from next month, according to Tun Myat, the spokesperson for the Myanmar Tourist Guide Association. It will operate independently of other police forces in the country, and will include officers with bachelor degrees, said Tun Myat, who added that training for the officers began two months ago.
