Timber Traders Supplying Burma Troops: Report
25 April 2012
A report by the Kachin News Group claims that Chinese timber traders have been supplying rations to Burmese troops engaged in the offensive against the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). According to the report, army units in Manje (Mansi) Township in southern Kachin State have been receiving supplies from China since their regular supply lines were blocked by the KIA. The merchants, who were given logging concessions in the state by the Burmese government, were forced to temporarily suspend their operations when fighting started last June, but resumed by October.
