Thailand’s Immigration Bureau commissioner Pharnu Kerdlarpphon has told The Bangkok Post that 1,300 Rohingya Muslims kept in Thai detention centers were deported back to Burma three months ago. Thousands of Rohingyas, who face prosecution in western Burma, have fled to Thailand in an effort to reach Malaysia. A Reuters investigation alleged that Thai police prey on the Rohingyas, asking them for bribes before turning them over to human traffickers.
