The number of Thai visitors to Burma is expected to rise to 90,000 this year, an increase of 30 percent over last year, according to a report by The Bangkok Post that cites data from the Kasikorn Research Center. Thais will represent 18 percent of the total of 500,000 foreign tourists forecast to arrive in Burma this year, and will bring earnings of around 1.1 billion baht, or about 10 percent of the US $400 million the country expects to earn from tourism. Kasikorn also expects to see 135,000 Burmese tourists visiting Thailand this year, up 22 percent from last year.
