Qatari telecommunications firm Ooredoo on Tuesday announced an official partnership with the Myanmar Football Federation. “We are proud to show our support towards the Myanmar Football Federation and Ooredoo is committed towards building sports and sportsmanship across the country,” said Ross Cormack, CEO of Ooredoo Myanmar. A press release from the company said that through the partnership, Ooredoo would organize football clinics for young people in Burma. Ooredoo in June won one of two telecommunications licenses granted by Burma’s government, which is seeking to significantly expand mobile penetration in the country. In September, Ooredoo said it would support women’s entrepreneurship in Burma by recruiting 30,000 women to sell prepaid Ooredoo airtime to their communities.
