Aung San Suu Kyi will travel to her father Gen Aung San’s birthplace, Natmauk Township, Magwe Division on Saturday to mark the 92th anniversary of National Day, which commemorates the first large protests against British colonial rule in Burma in 1920. She will address National League for Democracy (NLD) supporters en route to the area. Natmauk Township NLD office told The Irrawaddy on Monday that they were preparing for the trip despite facing harassment by Magwe Division Chief Minister Phone Maw Shwe. On Dec. 18, Suu Kyi also plans to travel to Mergui Township, Tenasserim Division.
