Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will not attend the opening of Parliament on Wednesday to give herself time to recover from her just-ended two-week tour of Europe. “Daw Suu Kyi has asked for a leave of absence from Parliament which convenes on July 4. She plans to attend on July 9,” said Nyan Win, a spokesman for her National League for Democracy. Suu Kyi returned to Burma on Saturday, ending a five-nation tour that began on June 14. Early on in the trip, she showed signs of exhaustion after traveling outside of Asia for the first time in 24 years.
