Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will deliver an address in honor of leading members of Burma’s democracy movement during a visit to the US next month. Five prominent activists—Min Ko Naing, Hkun Htun Oo, Kyaw Thu, Dr. Cynthia Maung and Aung Din—will receive the National Endowment for Democracy’s (NED) 2012 Democracy Award at the US Capitol in Washington on Sept. 20. Suu Kyi, who has received numerous other awards for her role in promoting democratic reform in Burma, will will be traveling to the US for the first time in more than two decades.
