Singaporean telecom provider MDR Ltd plans to set up a joint-venture with three Burmese companies in order to get a foothold in the country’s fledgling telecommunications industry, The Business Times reported. MDR signed agreements with Be-Well (Myanmar) Company Ltd, Be-Well Corporation Pte Ltd and Avitar Enterprises Pte Ltd, to establish a joint-venture in which MRD holds a 51 percent stake. The new company would aim to provide after-sales services for telecommunication devices and is also looking to provide consultancy and retail franchisee procurement services for local company Golden Myanmar Sea Co Ltd.
