Return Home, Suu Kyi Tells Burmese Living Abroad
23 September 2013
Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi told Burmese living in Singapore that they and other Burmese nationals living abroad should return to their native country to participate in its transformation. “Please take pro-active actions to create the conditions that you want to see in [Burma]. Don’t just wait for the conditions to improve on their own,” she told an audience of about 6,000 Burmese nationals on the third day of a five-day visit to Singapore, according to Channel News Asia. She also fielded questions for about 30 minutes on what policies she should pursue to help change the country.
