Engelbert Humperdinck, a well-known pop singer with a decades-long career, will perform live at Rangoon’s National Theater on July 11. The concert, organized by the Forever Group and BEC Tero, a Thai entertainment group, will be the first in Burma by a big-name entertainer in decades. Although he reached the peak of his fame a generation ago with such hits as “Release Me,” “The Last Waltz” and “A Man Without Love,” Humperdinck, 67, continues to attract a following in the West. State-run MRTV-4 and other networks will broadcast programs covering his visit.
