International Airlines Plan Burma Flights
14 May 2012
Qatar Airways and Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) are moving quickly to add Rangoon to their lists of international destinations, while at least four other foreign airlines— Sri Lankan Airline, Bangladesh’s Biman Airline, Hong Kong Express Airline and Pakistan International Airline—are also planning to add services to Burma’s commercial capital. ANA hopes to capitalize on strong interest in Burma’s economy among Japanese investors by resuming Tokyo-to-Rangoon flights after a 12-year hiatus. Previously, most business travelers had to route their trips to Burma through Bangkok or Singapore.
