Indonesian presidential favorite Joko Widodo has chosen former Vice President Jusuf Kalla as his running mate, a pick likely to strengthen an already formidable ticket. Opinion polls show a Widodo-Kalla partnership coming out comfortably on top in elections scheduled for July. Widodo said Monday the decision was made following discussions with the leaders of the three parties in his coalition. Kalla was vice president under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during his first term of 1999-2004. The pair will be competing against former army general Prabowo Subianto, who has indicated he will chose former economic minister Hatta Rajasa as his running mate.—AP
