Charges have been dropped against three farmers’ rights activists in Burma who staged an 11-day hunger strike in prison to protest against their dragged-out court hearings. Myint Myint Aye, Khin Mi Mi Khine and Than Zin Htike were released from Paungde prison in Pegu Division on Tuesday morning, the Democratic Voice of Burma reports. They were detained in mid-June for assisting farmers whose lands were confiscated in Nattalin and Paungde townships, and they had attended about 20 hearings since then. The divisional high court upheld their appeal against the charges they were facing at the township court level, DVB reports.
