The Burmese government has formed a new Information Team to release data to the media, according to a statement on the website of the President’s Office on Thursday. Aung Thane, a deputy minister in the President’s Office, will lead the new six-member team, which will be responsible for organizing press conferences and issuing statements on political and economic developments, security matters and natural disasters. The team will also act as a news source for domestic and international news agencies. Maj Zaw Htay, who often played this role in the past, was not listed as a member of the team.
