Clashes are continuing between the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) and the Burma Army, local media report. Fighting broke out Tuesday morning in Nam Lim Pa, near the Kachin-Shan state border, Kachin News Group reported. Nam Lim Pa is home to about 700 internally displaced persons who live in temporary camps, it added. Clashes were also reported between both sides in northern Shan State last week on Tuesday, the news agency reported. The continued fighting follows a seven-point peace agreement that was signed between Kachin rebels and the government’s peace negotiation team in late May.
