The son of fallen Chinese politician Bo Xilai has defended himself in an extraordinary letter to Harvard University where he is a graduate student. Bo Guagua denies in his letter to the Harvard Crimson published on Tuesday that he received preferential treatment in admissions, was a poor student and drove a pricey sports car. Such claims have appeared in some Western media and on Chinese blogs following the announcement this month that Bo’s father Bo Xilai is under investigation for unspecified malfeasance and that his mother is a suspect in the murder of a British businessman.—AP
