A Chinese medical team launched a week-long campaign on Tuesday to provide free eye surgery in Rangoon as part of an effort to enhance Sino-Burmese relations. Organized by the China Foundation for Peace and Development and the Myanmar Alinyaung (Brightness) Foundation, the 12-member team is expected to perform surgeries on 260-300 patients suffering from eye cataracts, according to a report by the China Daily. In May 2011, the Chinese medical team operated on a total of 248 Burmese cataract patients.
