China Opposes Release of WTO Report on Rare Earths

1 November 2013

China has said it opposes the release of a World Trade Organization (WTO) report on its curbs on rare earths exports following news accounts that it rejects Beijing’s policy as a trade violation. The Commerce Ministry said on Friday the report is not a final ruling and that leaks would violate the trade body’s rules. Japan’s Jiji Press news agency and The Financial Times, citing unnamed sources, said the report sides with the United States, the European Union and Japan in the dispute.
