The Cambodian Appeals Court on Monday ordered a former town governor be brought to trial for allegedly shooting three garment workers during a labor protest last year, overturning an earlier decision by prosecutors to drop charges against him. Judge Khun Leang Meng said on Monday that the Appeals Court had charged Chhouk Bandith, the former governor of Bavet town in southeastern Cambodia, with unintentionally wounding the three female protesters during a demonstration in February last year. A prosecutor in December dropped the charges against Chhouk, saying it found no evident that the ex-governor was the gun man.—AP
