A Burmese sailor and four others were among the latest to be abducted by pirates off the southern coast of Nigeria, according to a report by AFP. The April 25 incident was carried out by “14 heavily armed pirates” who boarded the vessel 45 nautical miles off the Nigerian town of Brass, the report said, citing the International Maritime Bureau. The four other kidnapped crew members included three Sri Lankans and one Russian. A total of 14 sailors have been abducted in the region within the last four days, a Nigerian military spokesman said.
