A Singaporean court sentenced a Burmese man to 12 weeks in jail on Monday for having sex with a 16-year-old girl, reports The Straits Times. The man, 34-year-old engineer Lu Maw, reportedly paid 220 Singaporean dollars (US$170) to have sex with the girl on March 1 of last year. He is the seventh person to be jailed for paying the girl’s pimp, Malcom Graham Head, for her sexual services. The girl, now aged 17, began working for Head in October 2012 after he tricked her into believing that she was going to work as a social escort and earn high pay quickly. Head started operating an escort service in September 2012 with the help of his 18-year-old girlfriend.
