APB Alliance Brewery Company, a producer of Heineken beer, will start operations at its first beer factory in Burma by the end of next year, Eleven Myanmar reports. The brewery, a joint venture between Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd and local partner Alliance Brewery Company, was approved by Burma’s Directorate of Investment and Company Administration last week and will establish its factory in Rangoon’s Hmawbi Township, the news agency reported Sunday. The Netherlands-based Heineken once operated in Burma but withdrew in 1996, citing political concerns under the former military regime, which handed over power after the 2010 elections.
