Burma’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is doing a feasibility study on a project to develop an 81-hectare plot of land in Rangoon’s Dagon Myothit East Township into a hotel zone, according to the website Travel Daily News. Other areas, located between Yangon International Airport and the Hanthawaddy International Airport in Pegu, are also being considered for possible development as hotel zones. The new hotel zone in Rangoon is expected to be finalized for implementation by December 2013. Construction of the Hanthawaddy Airport is also slated to begin later this year.
