The Burma Army and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) have reportedly clashed for a third week in a row on the border of Shan and Kachin states, Phophtaw News reports. Soldiers allegedly attacked the KIA at northern Shan State villages of Saga Nam Hkun and Mahkhaw Yan on Monday, leading killing a local teenager and a rebel fighter, said KIA Maj Joon Aung. Eyewitnesses claimed that 10 government soldiers were killed recently by landmines in Mansi Township, southern Kachin State. Kachin aid groups have said the Burma Army began operations in Mansi on Oct. 22, raiding several villages and displacing hundreds of villagers.
