Burma Army soldiers allegedly destroyed 20 homes in an ethnic Mon village on Monday, the Independent Mon News Agency reports. The incident in Thuminkhalan village was the latest in a series of military operations reportedly carried out by the Tatmadaw in southern Burma in recent weeks. The army has been making incursions into New Mon State Party-controlled areas in the hills of Tenasserim Division since July 12 and stormed an NMSP post on July 16, killing two ethnic rebels, the agency claims. It said three people were arrested by the army but one of them — a Mon rebel — managed to escape.
