Some 5,000 athletes from across Southeast Asia are expected to participate in the 27th South East Asia Games, Chinese state news agency Xinhua reports. The regional bi-annual sports competition is being hosted by Burma and events will be held at Naypyidaw, Rangoon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach from December 11 to 22. Malaysia is sending 838 athletes and 828 athletes from Burma will participate, followed by Thailand with 827, Indonesia with 695, Vietnam with 693, Singapore with 550, the Philippines with 446 and Laos with 388, according to preliminary registration lists for the event.
