Arakanese Buddhist leaders in the Emergency Coordination Center (ECC) object to plans by international aid agencies to build a permanent emergency hospital for displaced Rohingya Muslims in Dar Paing camp near Sittwe, DVB reports. “We see that the camps are only here temporarily, and so their hospital should also be temporary,” said Than Tun, an Arakanese leader and ECC member. The news indicates that Arakanese leaders are hindering aid operations for the Rohingyas at the ECC, a newly formed body comprising the Ministry of Health, state authorities, UN agencies and NGOs. Arakanese leaders were invited to join the ECC after Arakanese mobs attacked aid offices in March.
