88 Generation Leaders to Visit the Philippines
3 January 2013
Min Ko Naing and other leading members of the 88 Generation Students group plan to travel to the Philippines to take part in “open society activities,” The Irrawaddy learned on Thursday. Min Ko Naing and 15 others, including Ko Ko Gyi, Pyone Cho, Mya Aye and Ant Bwe Kyaw, will participate in the Jan. 14-18 trip. It will be Min Ko Naing’s first time abroad since his release from prison last January. Last September, he canceled a trip to the US to receive an award honoring his contributions to Burmese democracy to show solidarity with colleagues who had been denied passports.
