“Brigadier General Aung Htay Myint and Nyan Myint Kyaw have been placed under house arrest,” said a police officer, who asked for anonymity.

Brigadier General Thet Naing, who was Mon State police chief, is likely to replace Sein Lwin, according to sources.

Two police major generals have been forced to step down since the 2021 coup. Last month, home affairs minister Lieutenant General Soe Htut, who is ex-army, was moved to the Union Government Office. Soe Htut is reportedly in bad health and is resting at home. He is also purportedly being interrogated for leaking about secret regime meetings and corruption.
