RANGOON — When Burmese artist Phoe San goes outside, he often returns home later with inspiration to work on his canvas. After four years, he has produced 16 acrylic paintings that are on display at Lokanat art gallery in Rangoon until Saturday.
“How We Live on Earth” is the second solo show of the artist who hails from the Irrawaddy delta, and who studied arts under the guidance of famous contemporary Burmese painters including Win Pe Myint and Tin Aung Htaik.
“I have captured the movement of people who are struggling for their day-to-day lives,” said the 39-year old artist.
So, visitors to the art exhibition should not be surprised to see paintings in the contemporary realist style with subjects including scavengers, food vendors, a laundress, fruit sellers and ethnic people working hard to earn a living.
