Maung Maung Thein, the general secretary of Burma’s ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), met with senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan on Tuesday as head of a Burmese delegation visiting China to cement party-to-party ties. “Party-to-party exchanges are significant in the promotion of state-to-state relations,” said Liu, who added that China would work together with Burma to advance a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, according to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency.
