A 16-year-old boy who was viciously beaten by soldiers last month following a traffic accident has died in hospital, according to a report by the Democratic Voice of Burma. Than Htike Aung, of Henzada Township in Irrawaddy Division, accidentally hit a soldier on Dec. 14 while riding a motorcycle and was subsequently attacked by a group of other soldiers. Numerous bystanders witnessed the incident, but no charges have been laid against the assailants. Family members said that army officials inquired about the boy’s condition, but made no offer to pay his medical expenses.
