Swedish communications firm Ericsson said it has been named network supplier and services provider for Norway’s Telenor, one of two foreign companies that were awarded a license to build a modern mobile phone network in Burma. “Our proven experience in building networks in countries with diverse geographical conditions gives us the confidence we can create a robust infrastructure for Telenor that will give Myanmar citizens a rewarding mobile experience,” Jan Wassenius, Country Manager of Ericsson Burma, said in a press release. Telenor’s network is expected to provide coverage to 90 percent of Burma’s population in five years.
