Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will appear on the famous BBC radio show Desert Island Discs. On the weekly one-hour show a guest is asked which eight pieces of music, book and luxury item they would bring if they were a ‘castaway’ on a deserted island, while discussing their lives and reasons for their choices. The episode featuring Suu Kyi will be broadcast on BBC4 Radio FM on Sunday at 11:15 am UK time and 6:15 pm Bangkok time, and is also available online. The popular show began in 1942 and has had many distinguished guest. Suu Kyi has said that she used to listen to show when she lived the UK.
