The speaker of Burma’s Lower House of Parliament Shwe Mann arrived in Singapore on Sunday for the start of a four-day visit, according to Channel News Asia. He is traveling to the country at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart, Michael Palmer, and is leading a delegation that includes five MPs, officials and business representatives. Besides Palmer, Shwe Mann will also meet Acting President J Y Pillay, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. Singapore has long been a close ally and business partner of Burma’s former military leaders.
