Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd. has announced that it will open a second hotel in Rangoon in 2017, according to a statement Monday. The Hong Kong-based company said it broke ground Sunday on the Lakeside Shangri-La, on the former capital’s Kandawgyi Lake. Shangri-La has been operating Traders Hotel in downtown Rangoon since it opened in 1996, and has recently built the Shangri-La residences, also near Kandawgyi. “In addition to 350 well-appointed guestrooms and suites, the Lakeside Shangri-La, Yangon will have three restaurants, two bars, generous meeting and convention space, a health club, and an outdoor swimming pool,” the statement said.
