Run-off from nearby mountains has caused severe flooding in low-lying areas of Lashio Township in northern Shan State, according to a report by Mizzima. Water levels have reached as high as 90 cm in some parts of the six wards that are most affected, and a number of homes and walls have been swept away. Local media reports say that hundreds of other households are also under water, and bus services to the area have been cut off. Heavy rains have also caused flooding in other parts of the country, including Pyapon and Pathein in the Irrawaddy Delta, and in Karen State and Pegu Division.
