Two men have been arrested by police in Pwintbyu Township, Magwe Division, in connection with the murder of a National League for Democracy (NLD) party member, reports DVB. Ye Win, NLD campaign committee member for Thamanyin Village, died on July 25 after he and a friend, Kyi Maung, were set upon by a mob armed with swords. One of those detained is allegedly a member of the ruling military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party. Ye Win’s dumped body was discovered in a nearby pond with several cuts across his head after Kyi Maung managed to escape the attack and raise the alarm.
