A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has returned from a four-day trip to rebel-controlled areas in Kachin State, where they visited hospitals and camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs), Radio Free Asia reports. The trip from Aug. 29 to Sept. 2 included an assessment of the medical situation at hospitals and IDP camps in Laiza and Majayang and could lead to a future medical program, Radio Free Asia cited the delegation leader, Dominik Urban, as saying. The visit came amid clashes between Kachin rebels and government soldiers, despite a preliminary peace agreement signed in May.
